I'm working on building a new computer and I'm going to get a headset to make my gaming easier (especially on my fingers ) and I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on a headset.
I've heard a lot of good things about Logitech, but I want to see if there're any other companies that make good headsets out there. Also, with the headsets, is it normally just the chat that comes over the headphone part and not the game's audio?
Finally, at the LAN party I remember a few teams were using their headsets to communicate but I think they were using a program for the games that didn't support voice. Can anyone shed some light on that for me please? _________________ Board games were invented for when the power goes out. |

I use the plantronics behind the ear set. I think I got mine from CompUSA after the set that came with my gamevoice broke.
You generally would hear ingame audio as well as any voice communcation (as long as you have the volume up in either application)
Probably the most common voice communication software is TeamSpeak. There are also other applications out there that are similar in functionality. _________________ -Umpa |

A gamevoice is nice, but as was the case with Umpa and every othe Gamevoice I know of, the headsets break very easily. I've got a set of Optimus headphones w/ a microphone from Radio Shack. They are pretty nice and cost me about 35 - 40 bucks. They are over the ear headphone and do a really good job of blocking out most ambient noise. If I'm in a situation where i need to hear some thing that is going on around me (Wife calling me, or something like that) I just slide them off of my ear a little bit and that works fine.
Any headset with a microphone will work with teamspeak, you just have to make sure they are going to be comfortable to where for an extended period of time. _________________ "Duct tape takes over where skill leaves off" - Larry the Cucumber. |

Greetings,
This is the one that I use. I mainly use Teamspeak and it sounds great. Everyone always comments on how clear my comms are.
